A little about CEG…
Computational Ecology Group (CEG) is a not-for-profit organization made up of a small team of ecologists, ecological modelers, data specialists, and spatial scientists. We’re based in Canmore, Alberta, and have a network of collaborators across North America.
We’re working in many different places, from the open grasslands of midwestern North America to the temperate rainforests of the Pacific Northwest.
Our team is especially drawn to projects that require close collaboration with clients and stakeholders to come up with actionable solutions that make a real-world difference.
The beauty of the work we do is that it’s not system, scale, or species-specific; if there are ecological questions to be answered, we’re keen to come up with creative modeling analyses to address them.
We focus on delivering insightful research and analyses to drive impactful decisions for habitats, species, and communities. Among the tools in our toolbox are cutting-edge spatial, quantitative, and population forecasting models, including the HexSim modeling platform.
HexSim is a life history simulator ideal for building models of animal and plant population viability, interactions, and responses to disturbance. This novel tool also includes a full genetics sub-model, making it a true eco-evo simulator.
